Published by Saideline. We compare Coachbetter as fairly as we can, using its public website and pricing page (details checked October 2026).
Quick answer: Coachbetter is the better fit if you want coach education (courses, licensing pathways, Manchester City's CityCoach content) and a large drill library to choose from yourself. Saideline is the better fit if planning the session is your bottleneck: you describe what you want to train, and it builds the session, the teams and a printable plan for you. Saideline costs €9/month or €90/year (incl. VAT) and starts with 3 free sessions.
Many coaches search for a Coachbetter alternative because they don't want to assemble a session from hundreds of drills by hand. Others are happy browsing. The two tools reflect those two ways of working.
What Coachbetter Offers
Coachbetter is one of the best-known platforms for soccer coaches. Its coach page describes a session planner with timed training phases, a library of 700+ ready-made drills, and team tools for communication, attendance and matchday organization. On top of that sit CityCoach, which brings in Manchester City's coaching methodology (60+ practices, with new content added weekly), and Coach Education, with courses and licensing pathways. Clubs, academies and federations get separate solutions.
For individual coaches, its pricing page lists three plans in US dollars: Base from $6.99/month, Plus from $12.99/month, and Pro at $159.99 per year (annual only). CityCoach is an add-on at $59.99 for Base and Plus. The pricing page doesn't mention a free trial, and the coach page doesn't mention AI features.
What Saideline Does Differently
Saideline doesn't ask you to search a library. It builds the session. You describe what you want to train as a phase of play, a principle, a player count, a space and your constraints, and it matches game forms precisely to that request. Every game form carries a Perfect Match, Close Match or Modified badge, so you see how well it fits without opening each one. You can write your prompt in any language, and the app itself is available in German and English.
It then covers what happens after the plan exists. With the squad feature, you rank your players once, and the AI assigns whoever is present to the game forms and builds the teams. When the headcount is uneven, parallel groups split the squad into two appropriately sized game forms. You can reorder game forms by drag and drop and export a printable two-page plan. Sessions cover U8 to U19, and Saideline says its content is reviewed by licensed coaches.

Where Coachbetter Wins
If you want to learn, it's hard to beat. Courses, licensing pathways and a Manchester City methodology are things Saideline doesn't try to offer. It also covers the organizational side of a team, from communication to attendance, and it has separate solutions for clubs, academies and federations. If you enjoy choosing drills yourself from a big library, it's a natural home.
Where Saideline Wins
When time is short, the library approach has a cost: you still have to find, compare and combine the pieces. Saideline removes that step, tells you how well each game form matches your request, and carries the plan through to the teams, the uneven-squad case and a sheet you can hold on the pitch. It's also priced in euros, with a free start that needs no payment details.
Which One Should You Use?
Choose Coachbetter if education and a big drill library are what you're after. Choose Saideline if the session itself is what costs you time. The two aren't mutually exclusive: some coaches use a library for inspiration and an AI planner for the weekly session. Try Saideline's 3 free sessions and judge the difference on your own team. Directors and club leaders can also test Saideline with their whole coaching staff: clubs can try it free for up to one month.
